Sauna Benefits
Relaxation and Stress Relief: The heat helps to relax muscles and relieve tension, promoting a sense of calm.
Improved Circulation: The heat increases blood flow, which can help deliver more oxygen and nutrients to muscles and tissues.
Detoxification: Sweating in a sauna can help remove toxins from the body through the skin.
Skin Health: The increased blood flow and sweating can improve skin appearance and health.
Pain Relief: Many people find relief from conditions like arthritis or muscle soreness after using a sauna.
10-20 minutes
How does Hot Sauna Therapy affect my body?
A sauna use can raise the skin temperature to approx 40°C and as the skin temperature rises, heavy sweating also occurs and it is not uncommon to lose up to a pint of sweat in a sauna so it is important to stay hydrated. The heart rate also rises as the body attempts to keep cool so it's important for those with health conditions to speak with their doctor first.
The optimal duration for sauna use varies based on individual goals, heat adaptation, hydration and your overall health. There’s a minimum effective dose for health benefits, so staying in long enough is important. Always remember that the heat can lower blood pressure, causing dizziness so always stand up slowly and be aware of your surroundings.
Beginners should start with brief sessions (around 10-15 minutes) and gradually increase duration as they adapt.
1-5 minutes
Cold Water Plunge Benefits
Reduced Inflammation: Cold water helps decrease swelling and inflammation in muscles and joints, aiding recovery after workouts.
Improved Mood: Cold exposure can trigger the release of endorphins, boosting mood and reducing stress.
Enhanced Circulation: Alternating between cold and warm environments can stimulate blood flow, improving cardiovascular health.
Boosted Immune System: Some studies suggest that regular cold exposure may strengthen the immune response.
Increased Alertness: A cold plunge can provide an invigorating effect, helping to sharpen focus and energy levels.
1-5 minutes
How does Cold Water Therapy affect my body?
Cold water therapy activates the sympathetic nervous system, leading to a release of hormones like adrenaline. This response causes constricted blood vessels, rapid breathing, increased heart rate, and a redistribution of blood to vital organs to conserve heat.
The shock of cold water can cause arrhythmias and other cardiac problems, even short exposures can be risky, so it's important for those with health conditions to speak with their doctor first.
Beginners should start with brief sessions (around 1 minute) and gradually increase duration as they adapt. We recommend you start by entering only up to your waist and gradually increase the depth over time.
