What we do at Pony Mornings
-
Connection
Horses don’t speak our language, but they do communicate in their own way. We teach children how to be safe around a pony and understand what their pony is trying to tell them through their body language.
-
Pony Grooming
Kids love grooming ponies! It’s not only a hands-on activity but also a bonding experience. Children learn how to clean and brush their pony the right way so that their pony feels relaxed and cared for.
-
Tail Care
Washing a pony’s tail is a fun and hands-on activity - gently brushing out tangles before applying a mild, pony-safe shampoo. It’s a great bonding experience too, enjoying a little splash of water and laughter!
-
Healthy Hooves
Discover the basics of hoof care and cleaning. We demonstrate how to clean hooves and explain why a pony wears shoes and why a farrier puts them on. A healthy hoof is key to a healthy pony!
-
Feeding & Nutrition
Through sensory exploration, stories, and hands-on activities, we teach children about what ponies like to eat as well as safe foods, like apples and carrots and unsafe foods such as chocolate or onions.
-
Pony Games
Racing each other, riding pony sticks and jumping over obstacles is a delightful and imaginative activity, allowing children to enjoy the freedom and excitement of their own pony adventure!
-
Tacking Up
Tacking up, learning the names of each piece, is a hands-on experience teaching children about the equipment used in riding and the importance of preparing a pony for a safe and comfortable ride.
-
Pony Riding
Riding their pony on a Farm Walk with the safety of a lead rein, children can practice basic skills like steering, stopping and riding in a straight line. Its a fun and safe way to experience the magic of being on horseback.
