Wood Cabin

4 guests | 2 beds | 1.5 bathrooms

Our hand built cabin combines the rustic charm of a wood stove & compost loo with the luxury of a bath under the stars. Piping hot and plentiful water make it a year round treat. Perfect for a family of four.

Surrounded by nature

  • Cabin in the wood

Tucked away in a retired orchard of plum and apple trees, our cabin offers a simple and natural environment in which to relax and unwind. This retreat is perfect for those who want to experience an alternative to glamping. Those who want to escape to a cabin in the woods with electricity and its own private bathroom.

  • "...a truly beautiful spot"

“Just back from a wonderful one night stay with my husband and our two children. The cabin is delightful, very small but accurately represented by the photos. In a truly beautiful spot with a gorgeous view. We sat around the fire pit in the evening and felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere.” — Sarah, England

  • Private bath cabin

Just a few metres (and down a few steps) from the wood cabin is your own private bath cabin. Exactly what you would expect when staying in a rustic retreat, our bath cabin has an environmentally friendly compost loo. Water is not required, simply scoop and scatter some wood shavings when finished.

  • Hand crafted

Designed and sustainably built at Westerlands by Adam at Wild Oak Carpentry together with our own resident artist Emma Jamison, using timber from locally managed woodlands, Wood Cabin is our most popular holiday property so book ahead to secure your preferred dates!

  • "... super comfy beds"

“The beds were bigger than expected and super comfy, and the wood burner in the cabin meant we were really warm, even on a day when there was a surprise hail storm!” — Kat, England

Please note: the sofabed is small and not as comfortable as the top bed (which is accessed via a ladder) so it is better suited to kids.

  • Wood stove

A raised wood stove in the corner of the kitchen creates a rustic, romantic ambiance and provides efficient and direct heat, quickly warming up the space and keeping it cosy when it is cold outside.

  • "... read/write and chill"

“Beautiful little cabin in the countryside on a working farm. Great place to get away from it all, relax, go for walks or bike rides, read/write and chill. No TV or Wifi, but I had an excellent signal on Vodafone and hot spotting to my laptop for streaming and work was flawless.” — Feroze, London

  • Kitchenette

Simply furnished with quality fixtures and fittings. Everything you need is provided for cabin stay including a small gas ring and saucepans as well as BBQ utensils for cooking on the open fire outside. Please note: washing up facilities are in the bath cabin.

  • "... so calming..."

“Such a beautiful private area where it was amazing to sit by the fire and look over the countryside. The outside shower and bath was so calming to relax with a glass of wine and look out at the fields near by. The bath robes, apple tree outside and hammock were the cherry on the top - such a great place - so glad we went.” — Kelton, Rendlesham

Private outdoor bath

Our outdoor bath offers a spectacular spot for a soak or shower and, as we have plenty of piping hot water, it is available to use all year round. If you dream of outside bathing with glorious views during the day and under a starlit sky at night, in total privacy and seclusion, Wood Cabin delivers every time!

“The outdoor bath and shower is really the star of the show here! It’s been carefully designed, easy to use and the views are wonderful. It’s a really special experience.“
— Lucy, London

Dog friendly accommodation

We love dogs here at Westerlands however our Wood Cabin is only really suitable for small dogs as there is no private garden and our chickens roam around outside and love to stop by for a visit.

We do ask guests to bring their own dog beds.

We support the SDNP Take the lead campaign which means keeping dogs on a lead when they leave the Cabin. This is for their own safety around farm machinery as well as the welfare of our animals and the abundance of wildlife here on the South Downs.

Bring your horse on holiday

Our stable yard is a few minutes walk from Wood Cabin and this is where you can arrange turnout and stabling for your horse while you are staying with us.

Please contact Cheryl for more information and prices.

You can also book additional horses for you and your guests to explore the South Downs. Rides can be booked with our Equestrian Manager at our Trekking Centre.

We look forward to seeing you here soon
