Designed and sustainably built at Westerlands by Adam at Wild Oak Carpentry using timber from locally managed woodlands, Timber Country is perfectly proportioned to maximise use of space and light.

Simply furnished with quality fixtures and fittings. Everything you need is provided for an off-grid stay including a small gas ring and saucepans as well as BBQ utensils for cooking on the open fire outside.

A wood stove between the kitchen and the bathroom creates a cosy and rustic ambiance and provides efficient and direct heat, quickly warming up the space and keeping it cosy when it is cold outside.

If you’re looking for the perfect place to switch off and get a good night’s sleep, this is it. Fall asleep and wake up to only the sounds of birds and other wildlife. Peace and quiet that only being truly off-grid can provide.

Below the sleeping area you can relax on our comfy sofa-bed which coverts to an extra sleeping zone at night.

Exactly what you would expect when staying off-grid, our luxury compost loo is environmentally friendly. Water is not required, simply scoop and scatter some wood shavings when finished.

Picnic crockery is provided which is suitable for young children. Please note that there are two flights of bespoke wooden stairs, a wood burning stove, a firepit/BBQ and a gas hob at the property so young children need to be monitored at all times. We actively support local businesses which is why our complementary coffee is made by one of our partners, Sussex based coffee merchant, Edge who have been roasting coffee since 1981. Their Roastery, EDGE Café and Store is located nearby, just outside the historical town of Arundel.

As well as our favourite coffee from Edge, we provide the basic items - sugar, tea, salt, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Graffham Village Shop is open from 7am to 7pm and is just a 2 mile walk from the house. If there is anything else you need or have any questions, please contact us.

Our complementary hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner are made by Faith in Nature and are entirely in keeping with our ethos here at Westerlands. They are ethical, sustainable, cruelty free, recycled, recyclable, natural, vegan and biodegradable. We refill bottles in our laundry room so please don’t throw empty bottles away, just ask for a refill.

All our household cleaning products are made by Ecover. Made in a zero waste certified factory with plant-based, biodegradable ingredients and stored in a bottle made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and refilled in our laundry room.
